3 Question Thursday – Rebecca Carrera

Today’s featured guest is a the adorable Rebecca Carrera, owner of Maven Beauty Bar in downtown Frederick.

Maven Beauty Bar was just a thought in 2001 when Rebecca Carrera, then a Nordstrom Cosmetic Buyer, moved to Frederick, MD. After several more years in the corporate cosmetic world as an Account Executive for Shiseido & Cle de Peau and Yves Saint Laurent, it was time to put her expertise to work and start sourcing new up and coming beauty brands that were accessible to the everyday woman.

With three young girls of her own, Rebecca knows what being busy means, so multi-functional products are just one of the keys to her “keep it simple, less is more” beauty philosophy. A  firm believer in “clean living”, Rebecca has sourced several organic and all-natural results driven cosmetic lines, such as One Love Organics and Scotch Naturals Nails.

Maven Beauty Bar is truly a neighborhood gem. You’ll receive unparalleled personal service and an expert make up or skincare lesson. Come in for a visit and leave feeling confident about your simplified beauty routine.

Here are Rebecca’s 3 Questions:

If you could give a piece of advice to our next generation about how to succeed in life, what would that be?

You can do ANYTHING you set your mind to! Be determined, stick to it and count every failure as learning experience. Great people, great lives, great businesses don’t just happen. They’re the result of many failures, many triumphs and countless hours of hard work.

Share about your family now – a husband? Any kids?

I have an amazing, supportive husband of 15 years. He’s my best friend and we love doing nothing together. That’s true love, when you can just do nothing. I also have 3 beautiful and super silly girls, 10, 7 and 3. I sometimes just stare at them in awe. It’s amazing to watch them grow and enjoy life. I can’t wait to see what their futures hold!

What are your big dreams for the future?

My personal dream is a life of happiness for my children and my family, but I have business goals too. I’d like to see my business grow and expand on the web and into multiple brick and mortar locations. It’s been an amazing ride so far and I’m basically living my dream. Life is grand! (As my mother always says.)
